I'm afraid that with the Twilight books, Edward may become more popular now... Have you heard about anybody naming their son Edward? Thanks!
Is Edward a popular baby name?
I think its going to have boom in popularity very soon. Old fashioned sounding names are coming back into style ex: James, Jack, William... Edward would fit right in. There is also the Twilight books main charector by the same name. The books could do for Edward what the Potter series did for Harry.
On a side note: I haven't read any of the Twilght series but the charectors all have very nice names: Bella, Esme, Rosalie, Edward, Alice, Jacob.
Reply:No I haven't heard of anyone naming their child Edward, but in five to ten years (when most readers of the twilight books start having children) it may become more popular.
Personally, when I think of Edward, I think of Edward Rochester from Jane Eyre.... very cool!
Reply:The people reading Twilight are not of childbearing age so it's a moot point.
That said, it was a popular name in turn of the century up to the 1950s. But hardly anyone since then has that name. I don't like the name either and don't know anyone who does.
Reply:I'm thinking that most people who read twilight are too young to be parents, so no. And Edward is a beautiful, classic, strong name. Eddie's cute for a baby and little boy, it's a name that ages well.
Reply:100 years ago, it was one of the top 10 names; while not rare, it is currently much less common (about 150th in frequency).
Reply:No Edward isn't a popular name, and for good reason!
Reply:Nope. Perhaps it's used for a middle name, although, not that I've heard of.
Reply:when i saw your question, i immediately thought of the twilight books..lol
Reply:no i actually haven't heard of anyone with that name, but it is super cute!
i love it :-)
Reply:I hate that name.
Reply:Maybe if you were a king in England 1000 years ago......
