Who's the name who pioneer female soccer so now could become popular?

I don't mean like woman who play at 10th century or earlier, but realistically.

The woman who dare to enter to this game and make this game popular to women, which now they don't have hard time anymore to join the club.

Who's the name who pioneer female soccer so now could become popular?
The entire team that won the World Cup several years ago deserves credit; however, Mia Hamm got a lot of good press coverage for the game and the team and I would give her a lot of credit for furthering the desire of young girls. She was an excellent player and a good role model for them
Reply:i think it was the U.S. and the 1999 women's world cup team because the final game got a attendance of more than 90,000 people in the rose bowl stadium.
Reply:Mia Hamm popularized women's soccer world-wide. She gave the sport a fan-friendly, talented face to identify with. She did for women's soccer what Jordan did internationally for basketball or Tiger Woods for golf.
Reply:Mia Ham..lol
Reply:Certainly: Mia Hamm
