Is there a correlation between voting for local officials based on name and the outcome of the popular vote?

Maybe I should clarify:

Do you think that people who have no idea who their local government canidates, such as senators, vote by a certain trend?

Do people ever vote by the catchiness/click of a name? Or do you think that people will vote based on the political party that they favor? Or are both of these factors just as likely as the other? Any other factors?

Any public surveys as examples would be very helpful. Thanks.

They tend to gossip about it and acquire one/ two preferences that defy the rule, but mostly party lines.
