Has the name Katrina become a less popular baby name since hurricane Katrina?

Or more?

Has the name Katrina become a less popular baby name since hurricane Katrina?
How many 15 year olds do you know that are named Andrew? How many 25 year olds do you know that are named Allen? How many 5 year olds do you know that are named Allison or 11 year olds named Roxanne?

All destructive Hurricanes, and yet people still name their children those names.
Reply:I wouldn't name my baby Katrina just because she would have that "tag" on her for life, it may mean less to some people over the years (40-60 years) or the younger generations who didnt live through that time
Reply:i agree with luisa
Reply:You would think it would go down in ratings, yes.
Reply:No I know bunches of ppl names katrina... but they usually call them tina now since the storm!!!!
Reply:maybe
Reply:You can check that sort of thing at the Social Security website, but they wouldn't have this year's statistics until after Jan 1.
Reply:sure
Reply:i still like the name aren't having no more kids to name them like that already have two
Reply:It's always been a white trash name, so I hope so.
Reply:I wondered the same thing last year but I heard that years ago a hurricane hit Florida and a lot of the pregnant women that endured it named their baby after the hurricane. You never know what people are going to do...
Reply:I haven't seen any infants named Katrina since 9/05. Maybe someone considering that name could consider a cognate like Catherine or Caterina, or a diminutive like Katie or Trina, or a near-homophone like Christina.
Reply:i would think more popular, its all over the tv, news.
Reply:Was that name ever really popular at all?
